License Key Update
Every few years it’s time to update the license key certificates. In February 2021, we switched to a more modern method of issuing license keys. The intermediate certificate “LiveConfig E1” used to date will expire on January 4, 2026.
For this reason, all new issues and renewals of license certificates will now be signed with a new intermediate certificate (“LiveConfig E3” - valid from October 15, 2025 to January 14, 2031).
If you receive a license error, please check whether your LiveConfig is up to date (at least version 2.18.8 or 3.1.0, both dated November 3, 2025). Installations that are kept up to date will not be affected by this process.
LiveConfig <= v2.18.7 or <= 3.0.8 cannot be activated or renewed any more after January 4, 2026.
Simply updating LiveConfig is sufficient.
If you are running legacy systems and cannot update LiveConfig for any (difficult to understand) reasons, we offer a patch so that you can continue to use old versions with the new license certificates. Please contact support@liveconfig.com, providing your invoice number, license number, or activation codes.
Incidentally, the reason for using a PKI licensing procedure is quite simple: license validation remains “offline” as much as possible, meaning that LiveConfig does not have to “call home” frequently. This is good for data protection and makes the software more resilient.
