PHP 8.1 Release Candidate

The next major PHP version 8.1 is planned to be released on November 25th 2021, that’s in less than 3 months.

With LiveConfig, you can already test the next PHP version. No matter if you use Debian/Ubuntu or a CentOS based distribution, our repositories provide all you need for installing the current release candidate (RC) of PHP 8.1.

Just follow our installation instructions for running multiple PHP versions:

• Debian/Ubuntu: add repository), install package php-8.1-opt
• CentOS: add repository), install package lc-php81-remi

Change PHP version per subdomain

With LiveConfig you can switch the PHP version per subdomain (how this works is described in the hosting manual).

For example, you can create a subdomain php81.example.org, which points to the same start directory as your “normal” website, configure this subdomain with PHP 8.1 and start testing.
